Monkey Mart
🍌 Supply Chain Optimization and Automation
Monkey Mart is an idle-management hybrid that simulates the micro-logistics of a retail environment. The player controls a monkey manager responsible for the entire supply chain: Production (Planting) → Harvesting → Stacking → Selling → Cashiering. The core gameplay loop is about identifying and eliminating bottlenecks. If the cashier is too slow, the queue grows, and customer throughput drops. If the harvester is slow, the shelves sit empty.
As the game progresses, it shifts from manual labor to Automation Management. Hiring AI staff allows the player to step back from the grunt work and focus on expansion and upgrades.
🧠 Bottleneck Analysis
The game trains systems thinking:
- Flow Rate: You must balance the input (Bananas grown per minute) with the output (Bananas sold per minute). Over-producing leads to wasted inventory space; under-producing leads to idle cashiers.
- worker AI Prioritization: AI staff are imperfect. They sometimes get stuck or sleep. The player acts as the "Manager," waking them up and upgrading their speed to match the store's velocity.
🎮 Mechanics: The Stack
Inventory physics:
- Stack Capacity: The player can only carry X items. Upgrading "Player Capacity" is crucial to reduce the number of trips between the field and the shelf.
- Microwave/Processing: Advanced goods (Popcorn, Chocolate) require an extra processing step. This doubles the time cost but triples the profit margin, introducing a "Value-Added" economy.
🏆 Management Strategy
1. Upgrade the Player First
In the early game, YOU are the fastest worker. Upgrade your own speed and capacity before hiring help. AI staff are expensive and slow at level 1.
2. The Cashier Choke Point
The cashier is always the ultimate bottleneck. Customers cannot leave (and pay) if the line is full. Always prioritize upgrading the cashier's speed over the harvester's speed.
🛡️ Visual Feedback
UX Design:
- Haptic/Visual Pop: The game uses squash-and-stretch animation on the items to give them weight, making the act of stacking shelves feel tactile and satisfying.
❓ FAQ
Does it run while closed?
Yes, you earn passive income while away, but at a reduced rate compared to active play.
Can I fire staff?
No, but you can upgrade them to be more efficient.
